Following the latest WSOP 2014 Media Conference, good folks at WSOP headquarters offered some insight on what will be happening behind the scenes prior to the tournament series in order to improve the overall experience of the visitors when the time comes.
Grind Room and more: Play online at WSOP
First and foremost, the WSOP management finally decided to satisfy the needs of their younger players coming from the Internet background and integrate the possibility of online action into players’ live tournament schedule by providing them with the Grind Room – a place where people will be able to log on WSOP. com, make a deposit (with a 100% sign-up bonus up to $1, 000), and grind it out while waiting for their next live event to arrive.
Additionally, there will be some online satellites for the live tourneys available as well (the complete schedule break down is expected to be released on May 25th), so people will have more chances to combine business with pleasure, so to speak. The organizers also promised that following a bunch of usual complaints about the speed of Internet connection, they will provide the fastest and most reliable Wi-Fi people had ever witnessed at the World Series. We’ll see about that…
«In the money» rule
WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel explained this rule by saying the following:
It’s never been that [the players] weren’t allowed electronic devices at the tables. When the players are in the money, the rules state that [they] cannot wear headphones or headsets. While players are not in the hand, they still may continue to use their electronic devices and/or smartphones.
The main thing is that you can’t have cards in front of you while you’re on your device.
It is also mandatory for a player to move his device if the floor staff asks him or her to do so in order to clear the view for other players at the table.
Late registration improvements
WSOP organizers also unveiled the fact that there will be two additional levels in registration (6 in total) for the most major events of the series, В as well as a 6-hour late registration period for the Main Event.
Furthermore, a lot of bracelet events have been shifted back an hour, to 4: 00 p. m. (no Dinner Break on Day 1) in order to smoothen the flow of satellite registrations and offer more playing options for players who bust early in those tournaments.
David Tuchman is back!
Undoubtedly one of the best in the casting business David Tuchman will be back for this World Series with his charming voice and 29 days of live streamingВ the action at the tables. A number of poker professionals will be joining Tuchman at different points to help him break down the action and entertain the viewers even more.
Of course, there will be a lot of quite interesting stuff coming in the following days, so keep your browsers open and follow the updates from this year’s World Series of Poker.
